Mission

The EAU Section of Female and Functional Urology (ESFFU) aims to provide state-of-the-art standards for research, diagnostics and treatment of functional urological problems in neurological and non-neurological patients. Moreover the special aspects of female pelvic disorders are assessed by the ESFFU. The ESFFU was founded in 2008 as a merger of the European Society of Neuro-Urology (ESNU) and the European Society of Female Urology.



Activities
  • Encouraging new developments in this field including assessment and management of a range of pathologies including, amongst others, overactive bladder syndrome, stress urinary incontinence, dysfunctional voiding and bladder emptying problems;
  • Cooperating with other societies of the EAU and with the ESU and the EBU in establishing a state-of-the-art European training program in it’s subspecialty.
  • Collaboration with international organizations like the ICS and the AUA in mutual activities.
  • Stimulation of basic- and clinical research on signal transduction and neurotransmission in the urogenital tract.
  • To encourage collaborative clinical and basic research activities of specific male and female functional urological problems.
  • To organize activities for dissemination of knowledge and developments in female and Functional Urology.
  • To have a solid and ethical collaboration with other parties in the field of Female and Functional Urology like patient organisations, medical industries and governmental and non-governmental organisations.
