Vincenz Kern

This publication highlights the life and works of Vincenz Kern, who worked at the cutting edge of the development of surgery from manual work to a scientific discipline. At the university of Vienna, Kern was instrumental in the establishment of this field. He developed his own method for lithotomy, a technique that seemed to completely contradict all traditional rules.
