Short Term Visit (SV)

Participants may apply for financial funding for basic, clinical or experimental research in urology for a maximum of one year

Stipend
The total sum of the stipend is limited and includes lodging meals and expenses for travel from and to the home country. The stipend is meant to finance the above mentioned costs made only by the applicant and not by any accompanying persons for the agreed period of the visit. The final amount of the stipend will be based on the real costs presented to the EUSP Office after the visit.

Conditions for application:

• Certified urologists and residents - no age limitations
• EAU membership is mandatory (for at least six months)
• The goals and expectations of the visitor, related to basic training, should correspond with the facilities offered by the host institution
• At the end of the visit a report must be sent to the EUSP Office by both the visitor and the host institution. The report should at least cover: hospitality of host, accommodation, clinical-, research and teaching facilities of host institution, personal benefit of the visit. A template is available
• All visits must be conducted in a European institution outside the country of the applicant’s regular work location
• The EUSP does not pay for course fees
• After having completed a Short Term Visit it is not possible to reapply for any of the EUSP programmes for at least one year

How to apply?
Candidates should apply online and provide the following appendices:
• CV, list of PubMed publications of the past five years and copy of passport
• Letter of motivation from the applicant
• Signed letters of recommendation from at least two senior urologists from the applicant’s country on original letterhead paper
• Evidence of acceptance of the Short Term Visit in the host institution (by means of a signed invitation letter on original  letterhead paper of the host institution)
• Detailed description of the plan of action, including a time table, agreed and signed by the host on original letterhead paper of the host institution

The original and signed appendices should be sent by post to the EUSP Office. Please allow time for obtaining signatures from all relevant parties when preparing your appendices.

Report and instalments
Grants will be transferred to the visitor in two instalments. A first instalment of 80% will be transferred before the start of the Short Term Visit. Written confirmation of the start date bythe host is mandatory. After the submitted report and the expense form have been approved, the remainder of the grant will be transferred. The total amount of the grant will cover the real costs as presented to the EUSP Office after the visit.

Deadlines for Short Term Visit applications are 1 January, 1 April, 1 July, and 1 October of each year. The planned date for the Short Term Visit should be at least two months after the deadline.

Only signed and complete applications received in the office before these deadlines will be considered.

Please note that the EUSP Office will not respond to any correspondence until the EUSP Board have decided on your application. All applicants will receive notice from the EUSP Office approximately 1.5 months after the submission deadline.
