5th ESOU Meeting: focus on optimal diagnosis and treatment of prostate, bladder and renal cell cancer

January 2008 - From 18 to 20 January 2008, the 5th Meeting of the European Society of Oncological Urology (ESOU) will be held in Berlin, Germany. This Section Office of the European Association of Urology once again offers a wide range of topics to European onco-urologists and their overseas colleagues, in order for them to closely examine the most recent approaches to manage urological cancers.

On the first day, the focus is on prostate cancer. Diagnostic methods, what is the best type of surgery, what are the benefits of neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy are all discussed. Dr M. Gong from the USA will deliver a lecture about the use of robots in prostate surgery. Saturday is the day for prostate and bladder cancer; discussions about old and new urinary markers in prostate cancer and bladder sparing surgery will be held among other things. On both days videos about different subjects will be shown. Renal cell cancer is discussed on the third day, including a lecture about the new TNM classification. The critical evaluation of new treatment options provides the latest information.

The ESOU expects a little over 450 participants this year. The ESOU chairman is Professor Vincent Ravery (Paris, France) and the local organiser is Professor Peter Hammerer.

The congress will be held in Berlin at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at the Poszdammer Platz Congress hours are Friday from 08.45 to 17.00, Saturday from 08.30 to 13.00 and Sunday from 09.00 to 12.30.
