EAU Primary Activities

Independent opinion-leading body
The EAU acts as an independent opinion-leading body with an extensive network of expert European spokespersons in a position to comment and inform the media on urogenital advances and news.

EAU Guidelines
The EAU develops and distributes Guidelines for European practitioners, taking into account practice differences on an European scale, to enhance the appropriateness of practice, improve the quality of urogenital disease care, lead to better patient outcomes, improve cost-effectiveness and identify required areas of research.  read more

Scientific Journal
The EAU publishes a scientific journal with an excellent impact factor: European Urology®. European Urology contains original peer-reviewed articles on a wide range of urological problems. Topics are carefully selected and give a complete practical and scientific guide to the newest international developments in urology. read more

Education
The EAU coordinates educationional programmes throughout the year at venues across Europe. Courses and masterclasses are organised by the European School of Urology. All EAU-organised courses are accredited for Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

Membership Services
The EAU provides membership services and serves as a point of contact between the EAU Section Offices, individual members and European National Societies and Associations. Members receive all EAU publications free of charge and they may apply for several  Scholarships in order to do clinical work or research abroad.

EAU Annual Congress
The EAU organises the EAU Annual Congress, the largest urological meeting in Europe. The last EAU Annual Congress was held in Paris, France in April 2006 and received more than 11,000 attendees. The next EAU Annual Congress will be held in Berlin, Germany from 21-24 March 2007. read more

Sub-specialty congresses
The EAU is involveds in the orgnisation of annual sub-speciality meetings and events for the EAU offices, urological national associations, the European Association of Urology Nurses, etc.

Public event - Prostate Awareness Day
The EAU organises an annual public awareness event on 15 September called Prostate Awareness Day in order to promote awareness about prostate diseases across Europe.
