Men worried about prostate cancer have a new online resource, freely available, to help them assess their risk. The multi-step Prostate Cancer Risk Calculator, launched yesterday, 17 May 2012, has been created by the founders of the European Randomized Study of Screening for Prostate Cancer (ERSPC).

New History Office publication on sale

The EAU History Office is pleased to announce the publication of a new book by Prof. Sergio Musitelli. Titled Selected Passages on Urological Surgery: From the XVI to the Mid-XVIIII Century, it is a companion piece to its 2003 predecessor which covered the earliest known texts on urological surgery.

At the last congress in Paris, I had the honour of being elected Adjunct Secretary General and the Executive Member for Education. Having served the European School of Urology (ESU) for eight years as Director, this marks the second time that I succeed Prof. Chris Chapple. He has previously also served the ESU as Director, and I can count on his support in my new position.

Prof. Georg Bartsch (1942-2012)

On 10 January this year Professor Georg Bartsch passed away. Although a very modest and private person, he had a remarkable career and became one of urology’s prominent names. Born in Innsbruck, Austria, on July 5 1962, Prof. Bartsch studied medicine in his city of birth and began his career in the Department of Pathology at the University of Innsbruck.
