Day 2: EAU Congress in high gear
The second day of the congress saw full house attendance and a diversity of sessions: from ESUT live surgery to activities for the residents. Awards for best papers were handed out today, and several ESU courses kicked off in the afternoon.
EAU Exhibition opened its doors to the delegates - the impressive scope and dynamics of this urology trade fair reflect the vibrancy of industrial and pharmaceutical innovation. Certainly a hit with the delegates!

EAU Secretary-General Per-Anders Abrahamson (Sweden) and Walter Artibani (Italy), Adjunct- Secretary General Science, were re-elected to their current posts yesterday during the General Assembly for a second four-year term.

Experts examine new trends in overactive bladder
New insights into the diagnosis and treatment of the overactive bladder (OAB) were examined at the opening plenary session yesterday with experts from both sides of the Atlantic discussing bladder control, biomarkers, neuromodulation, complications in female incontinence and genetic tendency for Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI).

A number of important trends in urological research and practice were addressed today during the press-conference, which brought together experts from various fields and EAU opinion leaders. Mid-Urethral Sling: female incontinence and sexuality
A recent Italian study has shown that there is significant improvement to female sexuality following successful treatment of incontinence with a mid-urethral sling (MUS). Whereas prior studies emphasised the complications of such an approach, and the resulting diminished sexuality, this new data shows that the opposite may be true.
