The European Board of Urology

The European Board of Urology (EBU) is a non-profit organisation that regulates and assesses urological training and education in Europe.

Activities

The EBU actively promotes universally high training standards and compatible education. The EBU collaborates with the European Association of Urology and many national societies across the continent, providing independent assessment of their educational activities. Furthermore, EBU programmes target urological training centres and individual urologists – covering all the factors that contribute to each and every urologist’s education.

The EBU carries out a number of assessment activities:

•    European Board Examination in Urology
This examination consists of oral and written evaluation. Successful examinees receive a prestigious title of Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU).

•    In-service assessment
In-service assessment provides individual evaluation to all urologists who would like to compare their current knowledge base against the required up-to-date European level.

•    Certification of urology training programmes
The EBU offers guidance to urologists as to the level of training that they can expect when they enrol on a training programme in Europe. The EBU achieves this through assessment and certification of urology training centres.
