The European School of Urology

ESU Teaching Activities

Education is one of the most important contributors to progress in the field of urology. The EAU Education Office working through the European School of Urology (ESU) organises each year many educational events.

ESU organises post-graduate, UEMS/EACCME accredited training courses on clinical and research urology during the Annual EAU Congress and at many National Societies meetings in Europe and beyond.

In addition, ESU conducts each year several dedicated educational events, such as the European Urology Residents Education Programme (EUREP), the European Urology Forum and several Masterclasses.

EAU Education Online

EAU’s online education platform provides readily accessible educational material to urological health professionals from all over the world.

ESU’s online courses  enable self-study guided by ESU faculty and include both online lectures as well as innovative active learning modules. Most of the online courses are EU-ACME accredited.

European Urology – Continued Medical Education
European Urology is the official journal of the EAU. For your continuing medical education, every month an article is selected for which CME credits can be earned.

EAU Surgical training

The hands-on training (HOT) programme has always been an integral part of the ESU educational programme in a joint effort with the EAU Sections. HOT sessions are usually organised in conjunction with other ESU events or at the EAU Annual Congress, check the ESU Calendar.

The development of Structured Training Programmes is steadily progressing; the pilot of the Robotic Urology Fellowship has been completed. Moreover, the first European skills examination in laparoscopy (E-BLUS) has now reached the maturation phase and ESU strives to make this exam available to urologists(-in-training) from all of Europe.

On the online education platform you will find supportive material such as instructional video’s of validated exercises to guide your surgical training and prepare for the E-BLUS exam.

Accreditation - EU-ACME

The EAU and the European Board of Urology join forces to promote and assist in implementation of the CME/CPD credit system by launching the EU-ACME programme, which stands for European Urology - Accredited Continuing
Medical Education.
