Duration Approx. 60 minutes

Radiation causes vascular injury and stem cell damage, leading to atrophy and eventual tissue scarring. While intended to target cancer cells, it also affects healthy tissue, resulting in a range of side-effects and pathology. The management of reconstructive surgery in irradiated tissue remains challenging due to the scarred tissue with reduced healing capacity.

This e-course will focus on the management of reconstructive urological procedures and address the associated complications in patients who underwent previous radiation therapy. The e-course will provide information on the complication rates and functional impairments between radiated and non-radiated patients. Experts in the field will also offer tips and tricks on how to prevent the complications and how to manage them if they occur.

Speakers:

  • Dr. M. Waterloos (BE)
  • Dr. B. Liedl (DE)
  • Dr. M. Preto (IT)
  • Dr. R. Nobrega (GB)

This e-course is brought to you in collaboration with ESGURS.
